Meet the Founders

Lauren Sowa is the co-founder of Form & Pressure Films, a production company dedicated to diversity and equality on set and on screen. Their first film, Marisol, won the 2019 HuffPost Impact Award and was licensed by HBO. Other films she’s produced can be seen on DUST, Tubi, Amazon Prime, Omeleto, and at film festivals all over the world. Select festival credits include: Slamdance, NEWFEST, Nitehawk Shorts Festival, San Diego Latino Film Festival, Soho International Film Festival, Immigration Film Festival, and Cinequest. She is also the co-president of Pano, a non-profit dedicated to women filmmakers and serves on the board of NYC Makes PPE.

Tim Eliot is a co-founder of Form & Pressure Films. He wrote and acted in their first short, Marisol, available on HBO and at festivals. He has been featured on The Deuce, The Plot Against America, Boardwalk Empire, and Bronx SIU. Recent and upcoming films include Paris is in Harlem, The Rainbow Experiment, Seven Lovers, and Deadly Vengeance. A veteran of classical and downtown theater, Tim played MacBeth with Everett Quinton and several Sleep No More alums in a Catholic Church in Chinatown, Hamlet at the cell, and Romeo at Yale. He has done numerous immersive projects with Stella Artois, Target, Secret Cinema, and AMC. Regional theater includes Sexual Perversity (ART), The Little Tragedies (MXAT), Cherry Docs (New Rep), The Real Thing (Northern Stage), Compleat Works (Nat’l Tour), Much Ado, Cymbeline, Elizabeth Rex (Opera House Arts). He directed Romeo & Juliet in an abandoned garage in Long Island City, Much Ado in a garden/gallery in Chelsea, and Erdman’s Suicide!? in a former piano factory in Hell’s Kitchen. Tim currently studies with Bob Krakower and leads a Shakespeare workshop with fellow graduates of the William Esper Studio. He got his MFA from the ART/MXAT Institute at Harvard and his BA from Yale University.
